UTeM Solid Waste and Scheduled Waste Management Policy

The Solid Waste and Scheduled Waste Management Policy of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) provides a systematic waste management framework to ensure that solid waste and scheduled waste on campus are managed responsibly, safely and in compliance with legal requirements. This policy came into effect on 30 June 2016 and applies to staff, students, non-staff workers and visitors within the UTeM campus.

The policy emphasises waste generation reduction, reuse, recycling, segregation and proper disposal, while cultivating sustainable waste management practices within the campus community. For scheduled waste, its management includes identification, labelling, segregation, storage, inventory and disposal through contractors licensed by the Department of Environment Malaysia.

The implementation of the policy is also supported by standard operating procedures (SOPs), monitoring and reporting, to ensure that waste management is implemented consistently throughout UTeM.
