The Environmental Awareness Programme (PPAS UTeM) is an integrated initiative that implements awareness programmes related to the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) and green practices within a strategic planning and implementation framework. Its primary objective is to cultivate continuous and comprehensive environmental awareness in support of UTeM's sustainability agenda, UTeM Lestari. In addition, this integrated approach provides opportunities for the UTeM community to embrace and practise sustainability in a more focused and meaningful manner.

PPAS UTeM is an annual programme designed to ensure the continuous promotion of environmental awareness and green practices, not only within UTeM but also among families and the wider community. The rebranding of UTeM Environmental Week (MAS UTeM) to the Environmental Awareness Programme (PPAS UTeM) in 2019 has enabled sustainability-related activities to be carried out continuously throughout the year.

The activities and programmes under PPAS are planned dynamically to provide opportunities for the UTeM community and the surrounding Melaka community to explore sustainability initiatives and the value that can be generated through 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) practices. The implementation of PPAS also reflects the university's and community's commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasise collaboration and strategic partnerships in achieving sustainable development.

The planned activities are conducted in conjunction with various national and international environmental observances, including Earth Hour, Earth Day, Global Recycling Day, World Water Day, and World Environment Day.
