The Environmental Awareness Programme (PPAS UTeM) is an integrated initiative that implements awareness programmes related to the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and green practices within a strategic planning and implementation framework. Its objective is to continuously foster environmental awareness and responsibility in support of UTeM's sustainability agenda, UTeM Lestari. In addition, this integrated approach provides opportunities for the UTeM community to embrace and practise sustainability in a more focused and meaningful way.

PPAS UTeM is an annual programme designed to ensure the continuous cultivation of sustainability awareness and green practices, not only within UTeM but also among families and the wider community. The rebranding of UTeM Environmental Week (MAS UTeM) to the Environmental Awareness Programme (PPAS UTeM) in 2019 enabled sustainability activities to be carried out continuously throughout the year.

The activities and programmes planned under PPAS are designed dynamically to provide opportunities for the UTeM community, as well as the surrounding Melaka community, to explore sustainability practices and the value that can be generated from 3R waste management initiatives. The implementation of PPAS also reflects the commitment of both the university and the community in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasise collaboration and strategic partnerships in achieving sustainable development.

The planned activities are carried out in conjunction with various national and international environmental observances, including Earth Hour, Earth Day, Global Recycling Day, World Water Day, and World Environment Day.
