Waste Reduction, Recycling and Resource Efficiency Initiatives
UTeM continues to strengthen sustainable campus practices through waste reduction, recycling, reuse activities and resource efficiency programmes. These initiatives are carried out with the involvement of staff, students, campus service providers and external partners to support a cleaner and more responsible campus environment.
3R and Recycling Activities
Recycling and 3R activities are implemented through waste segregation, recycling collection, reuse campaigns, composting, used cooking oil collection and textile recycling initiatives across the campus.
Resource Recovery and Innovation
Several campus initiatives also explore practical ways to turn waste into useful resources, including composting initiatives and projects that repurpose used cooking oil into new products.
Collaboration with Partners
UTeM works with agencies and partners such as SWM Environment, Kloth Cares, SWCorp, Kyutech and JICA to support recycling facilities, environmental awareness and community-based sustainability programmes.
Community Awareness
Sustainability awareness is also extended beyond the university through outreach and education programmes, including Nota Hijau, which has been shared with schools and community participants.
Green Campus Culture
Activities such as Clean-Up Day, Go Green Challenge, Trash to Cash and Green Culture Competition help encourage day-to-day environmental responsibility among the university community.
