The Environmental Awareness Programme (PPAS UTeM) is an integrated initiative that brings together environmental awareness activities under a strategic planning and implementation framework. Its primary objective is to continuously promote environmental awareness and responsibility among the university community, supporting UTeM's sustainability agenda towards becoming a Sustainable UTeM.

PPAS UTeM 2022 continues the momentum of PPAS UTeM 2021 by strengthening environmental sustainability awareness among the UTeM community and the surrounding society. This year's programme focuses on implementing high-impact activities and initiatives that promote green practices through collaborations with various government agencies and private organisations, including the Department of Environment (DOE), the Melaka State Education Department (JPN Melaka), the Melaka Green Technology Corporation (PTHM), Southern Waste Management (SWM), and Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB). These collaborations will continue to be strengthened through Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) in the coming years.

The activities and programmes under PPAS are designed with flexibility to adapt to the evolving pandemic situation. Accordingly, their implementation takes into account appropriate platforms and approaches that comply with the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Most PPAS activities have been conducted online, allowing broader and more convenient participation in the programmes and competitions organised. The planned initiatives also coincide with major environmental observances, including Earth Hour, Earth Day, Global Recycling Day, World Water Day, and World Environment Day.
